Sancta One Act Play Festival 2005

August 8th to 27th

Wits Downstairs Theatre Johannesburg.

We invite all new and existing amateur drama groups, under the banner of "Community Theatre" to join in the fun at our Annual One Act Play Festival held this year at the University of the Witwatersrand (The Downstairs Theatre).

This competitive event is entering it's 26th year, and we are anticipating this time an even larger number of entrants.

SANCTA is a non racial organization offering opportunities to old and new societies throughout South Africa to display their talents, in drama, comedy, farce, musical, and dance. The only stipulation in song and dance is that the production must have a story-line throughout. All our recognized languages are welcome.

Our last evening will be the awards ceremony, when the winners receive their "just awards". Remember, it is not the winning that is important, but the participating!

SANCTA annual membership per Society is R100.

The SANCTA FESTIVAL fees for members are R 550 per entry and R700 per entry for non-members.

PLEASE NOTE THAT ONLY FULLY PAID SANCTA MEMBERS MAY BE ELIGIBLE FOR SPONSHORSHIP IN 2005 ENTRY AUTOMATICALLY QUALIFIES YOU FOR THE ANNUAL SANCTA COMMUNITY AWARDS AND ELIGIBILITY FOR THE "NALEDI AWARDS" IN 2006

A copy of the SANCTA Constitution and also our Festival Rules is available on request from entrants; but can be viewed on our website www.sancta.org.za

All interested parties must complete the accompanying FORM OF INTENT and return it to us as soon as possible (and no later than end of April)

This form must be returned as soon as possible. On receipt you will be sent the ENTRY DOSSIER, which (once completed) must be in our possession no later than Sunday 15th May 2005.

SANCTA FULL LENGTH PLAY FESTIVAL ( 2005 )

All Societies wishing to enter this Festival should notify us shortly before their production takes place and we shall designate two SANCTA adjudicators to attend one of your performances. Their written evaluation (covering all categories) will be sent to the Society as soon after the event as possible.

This evaluation will automatically be entered into the FULL LENGTH PLAY FESTIVAL, and choices revealed at the FESTIVAL AWARDS CEREMONY held at the beginning of 2006.
